About SugarQuit

The science of sugar, made usable.

A 90-day, research-grounded programme that teaches you what sugar is doing inside your body — and then helps you actually quit it.

The gap SugarQuit fills

The science of sugar — addiction, hormonal disruption, metabolic disease, dental decay, neuroinflammation — is well established in peer-reviewed research. Almost none of it reaches the people who could use it most. The diagnosis conversation happens once, in a GP appointment, in three minutes, and the patient leaves with a leaflet.

Existing apps reduce a complicated biology problem to a single number with no explanation. The good ones are gated behind expensive continuous-glucose-monitor hardware. The free ones are calorie trackers in disguise. None of them answer the question that actually changes behaviour: what is sugar doing to me, right now, today?

What SugarQuit is

SugarQuit is a 90-day educational programme split into ten micro-lessons, each sourced to peer-reviewed research, that explain: what insulin is doing at 3pm, why fructose hits the liver differently to glucose, why your third day off sugar is the worst, why your fourteenth day tastes like a different world, and what the long arc of recovery looks like.

Alongside the curriculum sits a habit tracker that respects the science of relapse (Marlatt: a lapse is not a relapse — Day 1 again is a perfectly good day), a craving journal that turns urges into data, a substitution library of evidence-based tactics, and a weekly insight summary that surfaces patterns in your own behaviour.

What it isn't

SugarQuit is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure anything. If you have diabetes (type 1 or type 2), cardiovascular disease, an eating-disorder history, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or take medication that interacts with blood-sugar levels — talk to your GP or another qualified healthcare professional before making significant dietary changes.

It is also not a diet app, a calorie tracker, or a weight-loss programme. Weight changes when you cut added sugar — usually downward — but that is a side effect of metabolic repair, not the headline.

The research base

The curriculum draws on the published work of researchers including Robert Lustig (UCSF), Casey Means (Levels), Peter Attia, Andrew Huberman, G. Alan Marlatt (Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention), Aubrey Sheiham (caries dose-response analysis), Phillippa Lally (habit formation timing), and the WHO Sugars Intake Guideline 2015. Every claim in the app links back to its source via the research index and the glossary.

Pricing and commitment

The free tier of SugarQuit is permanent and includes the first three curriculum modules, basic habit tracking, and the resilience library. The Plus tier is £4.99/month or £34.99/year — less than the cost of a weekly pastry — and unlocks the remainder of the curriculum, the AI craving coach, weekly insight reports, and the small accountability groups (when they launch).

We will never sell your craving log to anyone for any amount of money. The first three modules of the curriculum stay free forever; that part is a commitment, not a marketing hook.
